Discontent (diskənˈtent): Lack of contentment; dissatisfaction with one's circumstances

It seems to me discontent is a frequent problem.

We quickly look in the mirror and we’re not where we wanted to be, where we thought we would be, and certainly not where we should be.

There are often times when we manufacture our own discontent. I see this when people begin to transition in life. Discontent begins when insecurity slowly seeps in to our thoughts.

This insecurity is grounded in comparison

but not just comparisons between people, possessions, abilities, or other inherent differences

rather comparisons with our own expectations and ideas.

Fighting these comparisons can only be accomplished through patience and trust.

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” -Psalm 37:3-5
